Sumaq Silver & Jewelry was born from a story of courage, passion, and purpose.

María Alejandra Cruzado came to Puerto Rico on vacation and fell in love with the island. She decided to settle here without any business connections and at a time when social media didn’t exist as a tool for growth.

A lifelong jewelry lover, she used to ask her father to bring her pieces from Peru for personal use. He would bring more than she asked for and suggested she sell them. And so, almost unintentionally, Sumaq began.

She started by selling to friends and coworkers, then went from office to office and house to house, all while raising her first child, who accompanied her on sales trips. With the help of word-of-mouth and participation in bazaars, the brand grew until opening its first location in Galería Paseos. Despite starting during a season considered difficult and facing outside doubts, she took the risk and persisted.

In its second year, she expanded to San Patricio Plaza. Today, 15 years later, Sumaq has six locations in Puerto Rico, establishing itself as a brand recognized for its quality, exclusivity, and sustained growth.
