FOUNDER & CEO

A story built with courage and purpose.

SUMAQ Silver & Jewelry began with María Alejandra Cruzado, whose love for jewelry and connection to Puerto Rico inspired an unexpected new chapter. After settling on the island, she began sharing pieces her father brought from Peru with friends and coworkers.

From office visits and home sales to local bazaars—often accompanied by her first child—the brand grew through persistence and word of mouth. That journey led to SUMAQ's first store in Galería Paseos, followed by San Patricio Plaza in its second year.

Today, 15 years later, SUMAQ has six locations across Puerto Rico and a community that continues to grow alongside the brand.

What began with a few pieces from Peru became a story shared across Puerto Rico.

From Peruvian silver to an international point of view.

SUMAQ began with jewelry crafted in Peruvian 950 silver—a reflection of María Alejandra's roots and passion for distinctive design. As the brand evolved, its offering expanded to include 925 sterling silver, gold-plated jewelry, and selected pieces in 18-karat gold.

Today, SUMAQ brings together jewelry from Peru, Spain, Brazil, and Italy, curating pieces that balance quality, individuality, and modern style.

"SUMAQ" means "beautiful" in Quechua—a name that continues to express the essence of the brand.
